THE USUAL PROGRAM

1st day departure from Vienna at 19.20, arrival to Baku in night hours 2nd day arrival do Baku approx. at 03:25, transfer to the hunting camps approx. 4 hours, in case of interest accommodation in Baku and departure to the hunting ground in lunch hours the following day 3rd day and the following days: minimum of 5 full hunting days Usually 5 full hunting days are needed to take an East Caucasian tur trophy. In case the trophy is taken earlier or later, the stay in the hunting camps or in Baku can be adjusted accordingly. 8th day transfer to Baku after the hunting conclusion, in case of interest, accommodation and stay in the city 9th day departure from Baku in early morning hours at approx. 4.45, arrival to Vienna usually at 6.00

ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS:

the base camps where the hunters are accommodated in hunting lodges and tents. From the base camps the hunters depart for hunting afoot or on horses. It is very often necessary to stay one or various nights in provisional camps; therefore, you need to be equipped with a quality sleeping bag!

WEATHER AND EQUIPMENT:

During summer daily temperatures range from 15 to 30°C; during the night they fall to 10 even 5 °C and it rains frequently. In autumn and spring the usual daily temperatures range from 0 to 10 °C, night temperatures from –5 to – 10°C. During the day when sun is shining, the cold is not felt. Changes of temperature are very frequent all through alpine hunting; consequently, it is necessary to be equipped with warm and waterproof clothes, quality mountain boots – Gore Tex are advisable, high SPF lotion, protecting lip balm, alpine sunglasses, and in case of an overnight stay our of the base camp, the above mentioned sleeping bag. Good rucksack, combined folding shooting stick usable for stalking as well, and an unbreakable thermos flask will be useful, too.
When hunting for tur, you will frequently be required to shoot long distances, e.g. 200 – 350m; thus, we suggest taking high-performance calibres, as for instance 7mm Rem. Magnum, 8×68, 300 Win Mag, 300 WSM, 300 Weatherby Mag. and other similar powerful calibres with flat ballistic trajectory and riflescopes with high zoom magnification, e.g. 9× and over. It is ideal to use light ammunition of about 9 g. Light binoculars with high zoom magnification, e.g. 10×42, and similar ones are perfect for contemplation. A spotting scope and shooting bipod are very useful tools, and a rangefinder should not be missing in one’s equipment. On request, all these tools or equipments can be supplied by our agency at special prices.

EAST CAUCASIAN TUR / Capra caucasica cylindrocornis /

is hunted by combination of stalking and hunting from stands or driving in the marvellous eastern part of Caucasus at 2000 – 4000 m above sea level. In case of driving, 1 or 2 beaters drive the herds into open fields and the hunter or hunters are waiting at time-tested fixed points. In both cases, horses are used for transportation, and thus the physical demands of hunting are lower. The success rate of hunts is almost 90 %; it often happens that one hunter manages to harvest even 2 turs. The condition that a client does not pay the shooting fee if he, in extreme case, does not have the chance to take the tur /i.e. he cannot fire at the game/, will guarantee the organizer’s maximum effort to provide a successful hunting. In this territory, hunters can count on harvesting a tur with a trophy length of 75–85 cm. If you are assiduous and good fortune helps a little, trophies of 90 cm are not an unrealistic expectation.

BEAR

is hunted by accidental meeting. The shooting fee is €3 500. Nevertheless, nowadays bear trophy importation from Azerbaijan to the EU is prohibited; therefore, we cannot determine when and whether the trophy can be imported. As a result, although the hunter harvests a bear, the outfitter cannot guarantee its importation.

TRANSFER :

We suggest the connection AUSTRIAN AIRLINES with departure from Vienna to Baku at approx. €670. The journey continues by car to the base camp and lasts for 4 hours.

BASIC PRICE OF HUNTING:

If the hunting tour is unsuccessful and the hunter does not have the chance to harvest a tur, i.e. the client does not even fire at the game, the shooting fee of €1 500 will not be charged. Non-hunting guest: 1 150 € per stay

The price does not include:

• reception at the airport, assistance in firearm importation,
• accommodation in Baku on arrival and departure days
• 1 tur without limits on trophy quality
• accommodation and meals within the hunting ground during 5 hunting days
• professional hunting guide
• interpreter for the group /speaking English or Russian/
• transfer to and from the hunting ground
• field preparation of the trophies
• all the licences for hunting and shooting
• sightseeing in Baku

The price does not include:

• visa of $50
• organization fee, firearm import fee and fee for veterinary import documents, in total €150 per person
• return airplane ticket to Baku approx. 700 €
• 2nd tur 1 900 €
• alcoholic beverages
• eventual additional hunting days – price on request approx. 250 € per day and person
• packing and shipment of the trophies, if you do not take them with you
• custom duty, airport tax and veterinary fee in the country of destination /approx. 100 €/

FIREARM AND AMMUNITION EXPORT AND IMPORT:

According to the new Gun Law, there is no need to arrange Firearm Accompanying Letter. It suffices to fill in the Report on Firearms Export at the local Firearms Registry not less than 5 days prior to the intended departure from Slovakia.
The firearm has to be packed in a special suitcase; we recommend a hard-sided one to prevent any damage to the firearm. Ammunition cannot be packed with the firearm or in the un-checked luggage; pack it in a locked container/baggage with clothing that will be carried in the plane’s baggage compartment. We suggest taking approx. 40 pieces of ball cartridges. Please, remember that the checked baggage cannot exceed 20 kg and the hand luggage approx. 5–8 kg (valuable objects, camera, cine-camera, etc.). Do not forget to take your hunting license along with you.
Upon arrival, your weapon and ammunition have to be declared at the destination airport; the hunting organiser will provide help to you. Export of semiautomatic and short guns is forbidden; it may lead to complications at the Austrian airport!!
You have to provide your passport copy, type, calibre and production number of the firearm 1 month before the hunting commencement so that we can arrange the firearm import permit.

HEALTH:

Azerbaijan is a country with healthy climate. No obligatory inoculation is necessary; nevertheless, we advise you to undergo inoculation against hepatitis and tetanus. Please, consult your health practioner, since a stay at an altitude of approx. 2 000 – 4 000 above sea level may trigger health inconveniences to some individuals. It’s in your interest to take out major medical expense insurance abroad. Don’t forget to pack in your medicaments you are taking regularly or basic medication for common health problems, e.g. cold, constipation, diarrhoea, and headache. The base camps are equipped with all the essential tools to provide first aid.

TROPHY IMPORT AND EXPORT:

Tur trophies can be exported immediately after the hunting tour finalization packed, salted, crudely prepared and the organizer will provide assistance in arranging the veterinary export permit. On request we provide assistance in trophy import and clearance at the airport in Vienna.

RESERVATION AND PAYMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Upon reservation, a non-refundable deposit in the amount of the basic price, i.e. service fee and fee of 150€ for firearm import, veterinary export documents and reservation, is payable. The remaining amount for the services provided and the shooting fees are payable upon hunting commencement. If the client does not have the chance to harvest a tur, i.e. he does not even shoot at it, the shooting fee will be refunded immediately after the hunting conclusion. All the possible additional shooting fees and all the possible other fees will be charged after the hunting conclusion according the applicable pricelist. If the client cancels the reservation:

1. more than 180 days before the hunting commencement date, 50% of the deposit will be refunded
2. more than 90 days before the hunting commencement date, 40% of the deposit will be refunded
3. more than 60 days before the hunting commencement date, 30% of the deposit will be refunded
4. less than 60 days before the hunting commencement date, the deposit will be forfeited

In case you cannot start your hunting tour, we recommend you to take out a cancellation insurance that will provide cover against cancellation fees. If you cannot start your hunting tour and you inform us in due time, our agency will endeavour to find you an alternative date; however, this cannot be guaranteed, since e.g. we may be fully booked, etc. As long as we cannot arrange for an alternative date, you can send a substitute in your place; nevertheless, the client must draw our attention the given change at the latest 30 days prior to the hunting commencement so that we could arrange for all the necessary formalities as, for instance, the airplane ticket booking, firearm import permit and suchlike for the substitute.
