WE ACCEPT BOOKINGS FOR SAFARI IN 2012 and 2013 !
The Republic of Zambia is situated in the central part of South Africa and has an area of 752 618 km2. Its prevailing part is a large plain covered with savannahs with an altitude from about 1200 to 1500 m. In the south of the country, we can find wide river valleys and in the north tectonic areas.
In 1964, Zambia achieved independence from Britain. Since then the political situation was uncertain. It was just in 1994 that the first free elections brought a change and the time of coups and catastrophic economic situation came to an end. Since that time Zambia, with its dynamic economy and sustained public order, has belonged to the most stable African states.
We would like to encourage you to experience a classic safari in the Luangwa river valley. EAST MUSULANGU concession with an extension of 400 thousand hectares is situated in the southeast in proximity to the Tanzania and Malawi borders. Since it lies far away from the capital, it has been very little exploited for hunting purposes and is eminent for high quality trophies. Luangwa, that forms part of the country’s western border for 180 km, endows the game with water during the whole year. Our hunting agency is the part-owner of the MIYOMBO SAFARI company that, after a years-long endeavour, has achieved a long-term hunting right in this territory. Consequently, we have a direct control over reservations, organisation of hunting and game trophy importation, which are delivered within the shortest possible time. The concession is managed and clients are partly guided by our European partner and part-owner who has rich experiences in hunting and its organisation in Africa.
Luangwa river valley is a classic hunting destination renowned for the presence of many elephants, leopards and maned lions, and for a very strong population of buffaloes with high quality trophies. Buffalo hunting in Zambia is a preference for those hunters who do not pick up the lowest price; on the contrary, it is devised for those who are willing to bag a good buffalo while experiencing a real safari in an atmosphere of 100 years ago.
Our experience from the previous years has proved that buffaloes with a horn span of 40 to 42 inches can fairly be expected; the horn span of the strongest trophy hunted in the 2006 hunting season measured 46 inches. It was the 10th strongest buffalo ever bagged in Zambia. Leopard and lion hunts reach 90% success rate. Crocodiles and hippos are not a small temptation. The usual length of a crocodile ranges between 3.5m and 4m and may be even longer. Hippos, unlike in most African states, can also be hunted during the short 7-day hunting for buffaloes.
Apart from some rare antelope species, e.g. puku (Kobus vardoni), the largest quantities of which live precisely in Luangwa, the following species can be found here: kudu with an excellent trophy quality, usually of 55 inches and more, impala, waterbuck, bushbuck, sharpe´s grysbuck, duiker, roan, warthog, red river hog, hyena, zebra, eland.
The river offers the possibility of relaxing by means of an attractive fishing. Catfish and the legendary tigerfish can be found in its waters, and thus, even the lovers of culinary peculiarities will get a slice in the action. On request, we can also arrange hunting for species common for Zambia as well but living in other areas, as for instance the swamp-dwelling antelope, situtanga, that can be encountered in papyrus swamps near the second largest Zambian lake, Bangweulu. Only few collections and museums in the world can show off a situtanga trophy. Hunt is complex and limited since only few licenses are issued every year; therefore, it is essential to book it much time in advance. The Banqweulu area also teems with black lechwe, oribi and tsessebe. Other very common Zambian antelope, Kafue lechwe, lives in Blue Lagoon National Park and in its surroundings in herds numbering in the hundreds. Consequently, only one day is sufficient for bagging one. The territory is located approx. two or three-hour drive from Lusaka.
Zambia is renowned for its quality sable and roan populations. On request we can work out a bid, and in case of interest, we can supply hunting for all these species.
